The third (or fourth, depending how you count) season of The Osbournes debuts tonight, and it’s the series’ final season. Maybe; we’ve certainly heard that before. The fifth of five new episodes (out of 20 that will ultimately air) will focus on Ozzy’s ATV accident, according to USA TODAY. The new season gives Virginia Heffernan something to write about, but then again, what doesn’t give Virginia Heffernan something to write about? Today Virginia devotes four of seven paragraphs (one of which ends with “Hee hee”) to the family’s dogs, which occupy the beginning of the first episode. She quotes an MTV publicist who says “Dogs drop like flies around that house. So they have 13. Tomorrow they might have like four.” Earlier, Virginia writes, “Someone at MTV must think these dog sequences are surpassingly rich.” Apparently, so does someone at the New York Times.
