It’s finally official: The Osbournes will definitely be returning to MTV this fall. The new season will feature 20 episodes that will start taping next month at the family’s California home, although the series will include footage from their home in the UK, which was rumored to be replacing the Calif. house as the setting. MTV cameras might also tape at Ozzfest. For their troubles the family will get a reported $5 million “with the potential to make much more if the ratings stay high, if the show is sold internationally and if there’s wide interest in ancillary products like T-shirts,” according to the AP. The New York Times reports that negotiations took several months and included offers from other networks, which included MTV threatening to sue any network that bought the series. Sharon was the key negotiator, and the NYT says that at one point “lifetime psychotherapy for the family’s herd of cats and dogs” was on the table.
