As the host on The Joe Schmo Show, Ralph Garman says he modeled himself after Survivor host Jeff Probst, aka Dimples. “It was definitely those eviction ceremonies, the counting of the votes, the way he pauses and drags it out. It’s just great theater,” Garman tells the New York Daily News. Garman is returning for Joe Schmo 2, which debuts next week. However, he’ll be heavily made-up, and sport a British accent. “There seems to be a glut of shows with British hosts. We thought that would be funny,” he says. About the show’s premise, Garman says it’s “well-intentioned and fun,” not humiliating like other reality TV shows.
