Hills’ return gets record ratings, was TV’s number-one show among people 18-34
Revelations that The Hills is reenacted and staged have not turned viewers off; instead, they may have actually helped the show. The first episode of the continuation of the show’s third season (it’s not the fourth) Monday was watched by a record number of viewers for the show, 4.8 million viewers.
That’s “the series’ biggest viewership ever for a single episode, besting what originally was supposed to be the third-season finale in December (4.7 million viewers),” according to The Hollywood Reporter. It “also was Monday’s most-watched primetime program in all of TV in the demo” of people ages 12 to 34, “a 37% increase over the third-season premiere.”
In addition, 1.8 million people watched the episode online Tuesday.
