ArchivesABC’s The Family debuts tonight.
Not to be confused with the network of nearly the same name, ABC’s The Family is a nine-episode reality TV series debuting tonight at 10 p.m. ET. In it, 10 extended family members compete for $1 million while living in a Palm Beach mansion. hosted by George Hamilton, the series features two twists: the jury who will boot a family member each week is unknown to the family members, who have to stay in the house and on the show after they’re kicked. The jury is actually composed of the house’s servants, who do plenty of on-camera snarking about the family members. USA TODAY says the show “is a tacky debacle that, like so many ABC efforts, comes across as a secondhand knockoff of another, better idea,” and the Baltimore Sun agrees, saying it “tries to be too many things and too clever for its own good.”
