Grady Brewer wins The Contender 2 by split decision

Grady Brewer won The Contender 2 by split decision, defeating Steve Forbes in what the ESPN commentators called an “upset.” Two judges scored the fight 96-94, but one for Forbes and one for Brewer. The other judge scored 97-93 for Brewer. He won $500,000 and a truck.

In the undercard fight, K9 won by knock-out in round 7, defeating Bravo.

I’m sure actual boxing fans think differently, but The Contender has ruined me for watching live fights. While there are some exciting moments, they seem kind of boring without slow motion, sound effects, and enhanced crowd noises. The show may have helped bring boxing back into the national conversation, but may have actually hurt the sport, or at least those bouts that are televised without the help of editors.
