Biggest Loser renewed for a fifth season, which will include pairs of people
After two weeks of airing the show’s fourth season, NBC has officially renewed The Biggest Loser for a fifth season, which will for the first time debut in the spring. With the exception of the forgettable special edition version of the series, which debuted in January 2006, the show has always debuted its new seasons in the fall.
Also new for The Biggest Loser 5, as casting for the fifth season suggested would happen, the contestants will not be alone. Instead, they will be “teams of two — significant others, relatives, co-workers or best friends,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fourteen episodes are “slated to begin production this fall for a midseason launch,” the paper says. There’s no word yet about whether or not Jillian will return with Bob and Kim, but new host Allison Sweeney will definitely be back.
