production begins on Biggest Loser 2.
The Biggest Loser 2 is presently being filmed in Simi Valley, California, at a horse ranch. Production will last until June, and the series will debut next fall, according to a Daily Breeze report on the production. 3 Ball Productions staffers tell the paper that their show is different from other reality shows. Director Brian Smith says “It’s like sports. You set up where you want them to go, and you file them into the space and just react to what they do. You’re repositioning camera angles. You know the parameters and space and the characters.” Executive producer J.D. Roth says producers won’t even try to direct conversations. “We see it as more of a documentary. On one show we did, the contestants talked for six straight hours about cheese. Eventually, they’re going to get tired of talking about cheese and they’ll talk about something else. In other shows, the producer may stop them and tell them to talk about the show. We just let them keep talking about cheese. So when the discussion moves to something else, it will be more organic, more realistic.”
