NBC’s surprise fall reality hit The Biggest Loser will return this summer for a second season. But now, the network has announced a spin-off of the original, episodic series. The new weekly series will consist of “themed stand-alone episodes pitting town vs. town, family vs. family, bride vs. bride, co-workers vs. co-workers and more.” Executive producer Dave Broome highlighted some possibilities: “Among the other combinations we are prepping are teachers vs. students, doctors vs. nurses, co-workers vs. co-workers, in-laws vs. in-laws, best friends vs. best friends, and firefighters vs. police squads.” While the same production company will produce the new series, “a different host and trainers will be announced for the special stand-alone episodes,” according to NBC’s press release.
