The second Bachelorette concluded with the “most amazing finale ever,” which included both a love connection and a proposal—and a broken heart. Small chandeliers dangling from her ears, Meredith professed her love for Ian, and then they had the most abbreviated proposal in the history of the universe. Ian got down on his knee, nuzzled her stomach, and expressed his shock that he was proposing. Then they spoke from the bottoms of their souls: “Will you?” “Yes!” “You will?” “Yes.” Before that poetic moment, though, she had to dump Matthew’s ass back into the limo. On the ride to talk to her, Matthew said, “I’m in love with Meredith.” On the ride after being dumped, he said, “This is insane. This is crazy. … The saddest thing about all this is that my heart is with someone that doesn’t want me. … Am I a fool to do what I’ve done?” To paraphrase Meredith and Ian, “Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.”
