Bachelorette beats West Wing; ABC “pleased” with Mole’s second place.
The debut of ABC’s The Bachelorette Wednesday beat NBC’s The West Wing by 3.4 million viewers. With a total of 17.4 million viewers, it easily won its time slot. The show that followed it, Celebrity Mole Hawaii, lost about more than 6 million of those viewers, but averaged 10.7 million viewers and came in second in its hour. Still, “ABC is pleased with the show’s performance; it held up much better against NBC powerhouse ‘Law & Order’ than the cancelled ‘MDs’ ever did,” Zap2it.com reports. Together, ABC’s Wednesday reality TV shows “scored solid ratings, both overall and in the advertiser-friendly demographic groups of adults 18-49 and 18-34.”
