Trista and Ryan’s Bachelorette wedding was watched by 17.1 million viewers, about 100,000 more than watched Princess Diana marry Charles. The royal wedding aired on all three networks but was still only seen by 17 million, which was “the largest audience ever to watch televised nuptials,” the Daily News reports. Still, that wedding did air in the US at, oh, 5 a.m., and that was also in 1981, when people didn’t have two TVs in every room. Trista and Ryan’s wedding cost $4 million; USA TODAY breaks down the cost. Their cake was $15,000 and had seven layers; and they had a mere 30,000 ivory and pink roses.
