The Bachelor 8

Bachelor 8’s ratings improved throughout the season

Although the post-show news that Travis and Sarah broke up may have left Bachelor 8 viewers sobbing into their pillows about the death of love and romance, more viewers watched this season than watched the last few seasons. Even better for ABC, viewership increased an incredible 89 percent throughout the season among viewers 18 to 49.

The show “averaged 9.3 million total viewers” overall, according to Media Life Magazine, while its finale’s rating among 18- to 49-year-olds was “up 31 percent from the previous season. And this means the show will probably return. One analyst, John Rash, says, “While the ‘Bachelor’ may never be the cultural phenomenon it was in its first few iterations, its ratings have stabilized and it remains a strategic component of ABC’s schedule.”

Indeed, the show is already searching for its next star, although ABC hasn’t officially picked up a new season.
