Bachelor 8 star is a “hunky” doctor working on his residency at Vanderbilt

Yes, ABC is bringing back The Bachelor and insufferable host Chris Harrison for an eighth season. But unlike the seventh season, the show isn’t turning to a D-list celebrity to search for a life partner when it returns Jan. 9 at 10 p.m. ET.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usThe new bachelor is Travis Stork, a “33-year-old ER doctor who is completing his residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville,” according to an ABC release. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke and earned his MD at the University of Virginia before moving on to a residency at Vanderbilt, all of which would suggest that he’s intelligent enough to realize that going on a failing reality show isn’t the best idea.

But no. After calling him “hunky” and “handsome,” ABC speaks for Travis in a press release, saying that he says the show “will give him the chance to step back from his career and job and focus on his personal life, concentrating all his attention and energy on meeting some amazing women.” And probably some skanks, too.

Update: Vanderbilt has removed his picture from a directory of third-year residents, but the URL is easy to figure out and it’s still on their server, hence his photo above.
