Bass fishing record-holder Byron Velvick is now set to hook and reel in a woman, as the group of 25 bachelorettes selected him to head up The Bachelor 6. Seven of the women voted to keep Jay around, but alas, he went home. Previously, Byron “[was] best known as owner of the BASS record for a three-day tournament—a whopping 83-pound, 5-ounce winning weight caught on California’s Clear Lake in April of 2000,” according to FishingWorld.com. Byron was candid about the show in an interview with BassFan; he said ABC was “really anal about” letting logos appear on the show, and says he’s “contractually obligated for the next year to do promotions for ABC.”
