The oldest bachelor ever proposed to the oldest bachelorette ever during the season finale of The Bachelor 6, when 40-year-old Byron Velvick emotionally asked, in Spanish, 36-year-old Mary Delgado to marry him. She said yes, and everyone was happy. Well, except for runner-up Tanya Michel. “I feel like a fool. I feel like I’ve been lied to,” she said. Mary, who was previously part of The Bachelor 4, joined the show late as a “mystery date.” And to think: She could have ended up with that indelible bachelor and perennial winner Bob Guiney. Byron tried to fake her out during the final rose ceremony, but couldn’t really pull it off, saying, “I can’t see spending another minute without you as my wife.” Earlier this month, the National Enquirer correctly spoiled the outcome, which was apparently leaked, maybe by a desperate ABC.
