Principal resigns after being disciplined for allowing Amber to appear on The Bachelor 10
The principal who was demoted for allowing one of her teachers to appear on The Bachelor 10 has resigned, and the school district says it would never have allowed one of its teachers to appear on the ABC reality show.
Tammie Carpenter “is leaving her post effective June 29” and “notified school officials about the resignation in a short message,” The Houston Chronicle reports.
The spokesperson for the Fort Bend Independent School District “said district officials would have denied Alchalabi’s request,” according to the paper. “She approved it, she was aware of it, she knew about it and the principal’s supervisor was not made aware that this teacher was out for 22 consecutive days,” spokesperson Mary Ann Simpson said.
Amber said in a statement, “She has been nothing but a consummate professional and an incredible mentor. It is truly unfortunate that this would happen to someone who had nothing but good intentions.”
Some parents “plan to petition school district officials to rehire her and put her back in charge of the school,” the Chronicle reports. PTO President Laura Winters said, “It was bogus the reason she got fired. They need to put her back in that school. That school has thrived under her.”
