The Bachelor debuts tonight.
ABC’s The Bachelor debuts tonight at 8 p.m. ET, following 31-year-old management consultant Alex Michel’s six-episode quest to find a possible bride from a group of 15 women. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Alex found the process “brutal,” and says that “the women range from the professional…to the downright skanky.” The show is produced by Mike Fleiss, who also created FOX’s fiasco of a special, Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millonaire. This time, the Chronicle reports, background checks were “exhaustive,” and blood and drug tests were also administered. One critic says the show is “tame, but still detestable” (the Seattle Post-Intelligencer) while another says it “makes a connection with its audience beyond the vicarious thrill” (LA Times).
