Mark report: Burnett signs deal to create Apprentice-like series with Martha Stewart.
Mark Burnett’s first foray into the world of scripted TV (assuming you don’t count all those voice-overs that Trump does) has failed, with Commando Nanny being cancelled before it ever aired. The WB show “suffered a number of unfortunate and untimely setbacks, which factored into this very difficult decision,” the WB said. Delays occurred due to cast illness and other events, according to E! Online. However, Burnett now has a new project to focus on: Martha Stewart. Earlier, reports said Burnett would be both retool Martha Stewart Living and create a prime-time series with her. Now, Burnett “and reps for jailed domestic diva Martha Stewart have sealed the deal for an Apprentice-type reality show in which contestants compete for Stewart’s approval.” That’s according to The New York Daily News’ Lloyd Grove (third item); neither NBC nor Burnett would comment, and Stewart is, well, tied up right now.
