Trump’s kids ‘resisted’ joining The Apprentice because it might hurt their ‘credibility’

With Carolyn fired, Ivanka Trump has replaced her for The Apprentice 6. Trump’s junior, Don, will also appear on the show, as he did for a few episodes last season.

Despite this, in a profile of Trump’s kids, the New York Times says they “initially resisted Mr. Trump’s invitations to join him on ‘The Apprentice,’ concerned that they would diminish their own credibility as businesspeople and get in the way of their father’s good time.” Of course, they changed their minds, and proved that they’re their dad’s kids.

Ivanka tells the paper, “It’s an hour of highlighting our projects around the world on prime-time television. It’s a tremendous vehicle to put our brand out there.” Don agrees, saying, “It really is part of the job description. So much of what we’re doing is selling the brand. If I don’t take advantage of every opportunity to do that, I’m doing myself a disservice.”

One of their tasks with the Trump Organization, the paper says, is “connecting [Trump] to a youthful audience he cannot reach on his own.” (Ivanka is 25; Don is 29.) Helping to bring a younger audience to the TV show wouldn’t hurt, either.
