Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell clash
An war of words between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump began Wednesday and continues to escalate. Trump, whose new season of The Apprentice coincidentally debuts in just a few weeks, responded angrily to remarks Rosie made on The View about his decision to allow Miss USA to retain her title.
On the show Wednesday, Rosie called him a “snake-oil salesman” and said, “Because his show ‘The Apprentice’ is starting again in January, he held a big press conference to see if he was going to allow Miss USA, such a prestigious title,” Access Hollywood reported. She continued, “He’s the moral authority? Left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair. Had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America.” Rosie also said, “He’s gonna sue me, but he’ll be bankrupt by that time.”
Trump took the bait and told People, “Rosie will rue the words she said. I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements—and it’ll be fun. Rosie’s a loser. A real loser. I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice fat little Rosie.”
To Access Hollywood, he said, “Rosie is somebody out of control who really just doesn’t have it and she ought to be careful because I’ll send one of my friends to pick up her girlfriend and I think it would be very easy.”
On The View Thursday, Rosie responded by saying, according to People, “I brought [my partner] Kelli here today. I was afraid to leave her at home, in case someone with a comb-over came over and stole her from me.”
Also on Thursday, Trump told The New York Post, “Here’s the story: She is an extremely unattractive person who doesn’t understand the truth. … I think she’s a terrible person. I can look at people and see what they are. She has an extremely low aptitude, in my opinion … and has failed at everything she’s done.”
Perhaps, or perhaps not, but she’s unquestionably succeeding in helping him attract attention for The Apprentice 6.
