Before last night’s episode of The Apprentice 3, Nescafe was already pitching its coffee, which was featured during the episode. You get “14 NESCAFÉ TASTER’S CHOICE(R) single serve packets, a $1.50 coupon & 2 recipe cards.” (Apparently the single serve packets are really excitable, because every time the site talks about Taster’s Choice it’s in all caps.) The site also allows you to register to win “a trip to New York City for the winner and a guest to attend the production of the Season 3 final episode of The Apprentice during the month of May 2005.” Companies whoring their Apprentice-placed products is nothing new, but it is an interesting strategy to give the product away to viewers, trying to get them hooked with a free sample. Of course, drug dealers have been using this strategy forever, so it’s about time reality TV show sponsors got on board.
