Raj has twice been arrested for drunk driving
Former Apprentice 2 candidate Raj Bhakta, who is running for Congress, was twice arrested for drunk driving, once in 2003 and once in 1997. The Smoking Gun first reported on Raj’s earlier arrest for drunk driving, and Raj revealed the second in a newspaper interview.
The first occurred when Raj was a student at Boston College in 1997. Raj paid a fine and went to an education , but later, “failed to show for an August 1998 court hearing, which resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant.” The second arrest, Raj tells the Philadelphia Inquirer, was a “similar incident in Colorado two to three years ago.”
Raj told the paper, “Politicians today need to come clean. I ask for the forgiveness and understanding of the voters, while giving them my solemn pledge that this behavior will not happen again.” Funny how all this coming clean happens after a friendly nudge from The Smoking Gun.
Raj also said that “there’s no glory and there is no honor in getting drunk. I would tell them [college students] that we are best served as individuals in our society when we are in control and of sober mind.” And hitting on secretaries.
