first Amazing Race team to reach pit stop wins cash; Ryan and Chuck come in last.
Those who check in first to the pit stops on the last few seasons of The Amazing Race have frequently won vacations, generally, as Phil tells us, “courtesy of American Airlines web site, aa.com.” On the first episode of the seventh season, the first team to check in—Debbie and Bianca—didn’t win a trip. Instead, Phil told them that they each won $10,000. So now they can take a vacation and pay for drugs. Best friends Ryan and Chuck, who often needed subtitles both for Chuck’s Portuguese and for their southern accents, were the last team to arrive, having landed on the mat mere seconds after Ron and Kelly. Not that anyone cares, but Romber started out in last place, unable to open the trunk of their Mercedes car at the starting point, but ended up in third place. Throughout the race, Rob kept referring to how “we” won $1 million and “we” won Survivor, which, since he’s lost the show twice now, must mean that they’re so close that he’s become one with Amber and now shares her first-place victory.
