Cousins Charla Faddoul and Mirna Hindoyan, who have been credited by some with helping to increase The Amazing Race 5’s popularity, were eliminated from the race last night. A fateful decision to try for an earlier flight that ended up being delayed kept them in the back of the pack, and they never caught up. Editors and producers faked us out big time by removing all references to a possible elimination, fueling living room speculation that this was, in fact, a non-elimination round. Alas, Phil was phorced to Philiminate them. Charla talked about trying to show other people what she’s capable of: “I just wanted to prove to the world how much I can do, and it’s not easy when there’s…always people thinking you can’t do it and you have to work extra hard to do it…[but] you have to do it. You have to accomplish your dreams.” Her speech left her, Mirna, and even the usually unflappable Phil all in tears.
