The Amazing Race wins Emmy.
Days after CBS started casting for a fifth season, which previously seemed like it would not happen, The Amazing Race won the first Reality/Competition Program Emmy. It beat Survivor and American Idol (and two other random shows), which E! says was “[p]erhaps the biggest shocker”; all three were nominated for unspecified seasons. Survivor won an Emmy two years ago in the Special Class category, which this new category replaces. Last week, Cirque du Soleil: Fire Within won the first Nonfiction Program Alternative Emmy.
