Amazing Race 2 winner Alex begins to travel Around the World for Free
An online reality series that began today follows one former Amazing Race cast member as he travels around the world, and it’s produced by two other former reality show cast members.
Around the World for Free borrows from Amazing Race’s themes and structure by sending second-season winner Alex Boylan on a trip around the world with no money. He will “enlist viewers as his tour guides via” the show’s site. A single crew member travels with him and his travel adventures “will air in short daily and weekly 8-12 minute webisodes on the site,” according to a press release.
Alex began the trip this morning on The Early Show, which will feature updates on his progress in the future. The show is also produced by Survivor’s Burton Roberts, and the web site is produced by FanRocket, Apprentice 3 cast member Danny Kastner’s company.
In the press release, Alex said, “Too often people have a tendency to rely on money to have meaningful or fulfilling travel adventures. This journey is all about relying on input from others as well as resourcefulness on the road. It’s a bit scary to think soon I’ll head off penniless around the world… I am really going to need help from the online audience or it will be a very bumpy ride.”
