Dan, Jordan beat Jet, Cord by 25 minutes; Dan says “Jet hates gays,” “called Jordan a ‘fag’”
The finale of The Amazing Race 16 wasn’t close at all, as bros Dan and Jordan beat cowboys Jet and Cord by almost a half hour, and maintained a lead throughout the leg. More surprisingly, they revealed that homophobia on the race did not come from Caite, but instead from Jet.
“We ended up beating the cowboys by about 25 minutes. They weren’t even close to the memory challenge when we left,” Dan told TV Guide. Dan said they were “always worried about them, but even though they caught up physically, at Coit Tower, there was a mandatory 15-minute wait. You had to go over safety and get harnessed, so I was about 80 percent done with my ascension as they were arriving, so they had to wait 15 minutes.”
As to their line-cutting, Jordan said, “That move didn’t make a difference and we kind of knew that. I was just hanging out with Caite, so that was where I was in line. But it kind of riled us up and got us excited to put the pedal to the metal in the final leg.” Their move to first class really put them ahead. Jordan told Reality TV World, “We were the very first people off the plane and we really never looked back.” Dan explained that the other two teams’ seats didn’t help: “the three teams sat in three rows consecutively in the very back of the plane”
Meanwhile, despite a CBS publicists’ pathetic effort to get them to not talk about things outside of the lame, noncontroversial stuff (“Let’s talk about their strategic play on the show”), Dan and Jordan told Reality TV World that cowboy Jet has a problem with gay people.
Interestingly, Jordan defends Caite (“She definitely is not homophobic”) and Caite’s response to Carol and Brandy (he said that when he challenged her on the race about U-Turning Carol and Brandy, he wasn’t accusing her). Instead, the brothers say that Jet is actually the one who made homophobic comments about the lesbian team and now, about him.
Dan said, “Jet hates gays, yeah,” and Jordan said that “he made comments about Carol and Brandy on the show.” Dan added that “Jet called Jordan a ‘fag’ Saturday night for absolutely no reason and Jordan just said hello to him, so there was something on the Race and I guess, in all fairness, there’s some stuff that isn’t shown and I think it’s an important thing to get out. Because I don’t think there’s any doubt that certain things happened and it all plays a part in everyone’s reaction. … I think there’s some animosity but it really goes one-way.”
