The Amazing Race 13 debuts Sunday
On Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, 11 new teams will start traveling 30,000 miles over 23 days on The Amazing Race 13.
The the non-stop Emmy-winning CBS reality show will visit Kazakhstan and other new locations, but it’ll also return to India for the seventh time. Tragically non-Emmy nominated host Phil Keoghan told USA TODAY India is “my favorite (place for the show). I don’t know a more diverse, colorful, dynamic country in the world. There’s a sameness and comfort level you get living in a country like America.”
Executive producer Bertram van Munster said that not much will change this season, just as the show hasn’t changed over its 12 previous seasons. “The more you start messing with an original concept, usually it doesn’t get much better. It doesn’t really improve,” he told Reality TV World.
Still, he said the clues will get more difficult, as “we really try to go back to the old ways so the audience doesn’t feel like we’re ‘FedEx-ing’ people around the world.” And they’ve designed better challenges. “What I’ve done [for this season is] I’ve come up with so many insane challenges that it should do the trick and I think it will be plenty exciting for an audience to watch it,” he said.
