With Jake out of Survivor Thailand, only former Chuay Gahn tribe members—once the “weaker” tribe—remain on the island. In a surprise twist during last night’s episode, the reward challenge brought a family member for each remaining survivor to Thailand. In order to actually be able to see their loved one, the family members had to compete in the challenge, eating things such as boiled tarantula and gigantic cockroaches. It came down to Helen’s husband and Jake’s wife; Helen’s husband narrowly won, and he spent a day with Helen and the rest of the tribe. The other survivor’s depression ended at the immunity challenge, though, where Jeff Probst brought out their family members again and allowed them to compete in the challenge. Ted and his brother won.
