CBS reveals most of Survivor cast, Probst reveals changes to idols, duels
Days after their names and photos leaked online, CBS announced the 16 Survivor South Pacific cast members, although the network is pretending like we don’t all know which former contestants are returning (Coach and Ozzy). They’re on two tribes named after Samoa’s islands: Upolu and Savaii.
The cast includes Rick, who applied 14 times; Jim, whose occupation is listed as “medical marijuana dispenser” but also has won a World Poker Tour event; country music singer Whitney, who appeared on Nashville Star; Keith, who has a heart condition and a pacemaker; Miss Washington 2007 Elyse Umemoto, who embarrassed the Miss America organization; and Brandon Hantz, who sounds just like his uncle.
Will Brandon Hantz keep his family connection hidden? E! News’ Drusilla Moorhouse reported that Brandon’s “last name is emblazoned on his arm in a large ‘Hantz’ tattoo. A few days into the game he was still hiding it, but it gets awfully hot in Samoa.”
Meanwhile, Probst told EW that the duels will only have two people this season (so half the cast won’t still be around at the end of the game), and clues to the immunity idol’s location won’t be distributed, but they’ll be hidden, too. No clue as to where the clue is. Once you find the clue, then you have to find the idol.” Of course, since people have found idols without the clue, this may be unnecessary.
Here’s the preview with brief highlights of each cast member:
