Survivor renewed for seasons 25 and 26, Probst stays as host

CBS has renewed Survivor for the 2012-2013 year, and confirmed that Jeff Probst will stay on as host despite his new job as a daytime talk show host.

In a press release, the network noted that it is the second-most popular reality show among viewers 18 to 49, and also announced that next spring’s season, Survivor One World (details about its twist) will debut Feb. 15, about the same time that it always does.

Probst recently said that he’d continue to host despite his new talk show, which debuts next fall, after both seasons 25 and 26 tape.

In the press release, CBS VP of reality Jen Bresnan said that the show’s “format guarantees fresh characters, exotic places and fascinating social dynamics every season. And, the show is backed by an A-plus production team that is as passionate as the diehard Survivor fans.” And Probst said, “We are so thankful for the supportive fans who remain with us every season, and we promise to deliver another year of quality television.”
