Partially crediting the Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean as the inspiration for the Survivor Pearl Islands twist, Mark Burnett tells Zap2it.com the show is “simply a game of social psychology, of thinking on your feet no matter what happens.” Part of that includes assigning tribes to the returning Outcasts randomly. Burnett also says he brought booted tribe members back because cast members have “watched six seasons, they’ve bought the DVDs. They think it’s their game. They say to me, ‘It’s the Day 17 mark, shouldn’t there be like a rain cloud here?’ I’m like, ‘Shut the fuck up. Just play. Don’t assume anything.’” More good news, besides the cast members shutting the fuck up: This two-part episode means there won’t be clip show. Also, the finale will be live from Panama, airing Sunday, Dec. 14.
