ArchivesSurvivor Micronesia had one last surprise to offer. Despite being the conclusion to one of (if not the) best season(s) in the show’s history, its finale had the franchise’s lowest finale ratings ever.
Parvati’s unexpected win was watched by 13 million people, which is down significantly from the 15.1 million who watched Todd Herzog win Survivor China in December, and lower than the then-record low of 13.6 million for Survivor Fiji a year ago.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the “finale and reunion show ranked as the lowest in the reality series’ history, continuing the run of series-low ratings drops that have plagued the broadcast networks this May sweep.” But Variety gives those numbers a positive spin, saying the finale “nearly [matched] its result for the conclusion of its May 2007 edition” and calling the reunion’s ratings “solid numbers.”
Overall, the two-hour finale was the night’s second-most popular program behind Desperate Housewives, which was watched by 15.2 million melodramatic people.
