Survivor 16 may be another all-star edition
The 16th season of Survivor may be another all-star edition, according to a new report. Rumors have been circulating on message boards that an all-star season is coming, and I’ve heard them from offline sources, too. Some of those rumors suggested that the fall season, Survivor China, would feature all-stars.
The new report says “it’s 100% certain that it’s happening after” this next season, and “only Survivors who’ve been in seasons 9 to 15 will be considered,” Tashi Tagg reports. That would be eight seasons after the first all-star season, which featured players from the first seven. Tagg says that says that producers are looking at “[w]ho most deserves another chance,” rather than who’s the most popular. She cites a conversation with TV Plus’ Clayton Morar, who is “buddy-buddy with loads of previous Survivors.”
Jeff Probst hated the all-star season but said this March that another “is not out of the question.” The show was previously scheduled to be produced “in late October - mid-December 2007,” according to the casting application. That producers are searching for new cast members is not surprising, as that tends to happen prior to all-star seasons.
There are also rumors that the show’s 16th season will be its last, but if it remains a top-12 show, as it has the past two seasons, I’d be surprised if it was cancelled after 16.
