CBS expands, delays Survivor Gabon premiere

Survivor Gabon will debut one week later than previously announced, but the show’s premiere will be expanded to two hours for the first time in the series’ history.

The season will debut Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET. CBS’ announcement of the change gave no rationale, although the change moves the series into premiere week. There’s no word if the two-hour episode will be two episodes, including two tribal councils, or just an expanded version of a single episode.

The following week, on Oct. 2, networks will air the only vice presidential debate, but it starts at 9, and thus probably won’t affect Survivor. However, that will also give Fox’s new Hole in the Wall, which is airing opposite Survivor, a chance to catch on more than it might have otherwise.
