Survivor China

Survivor China was the top-rated show last night, but is the lowest-rated premiere yet

There’s good and bad news in the ratings for Survivor China’s debut. While the show was the most-watched broadcast program of the night, it was also the series’ lowest-rated debut in seven years.

Overall, 15.1 million viewers watched, down from the 17.7 million who watched Cook Islands and Fiji’s 16.7 million viewers, so it’s losing about a million viewers a season.

However, the show “was still the top program on broadcast TV on Thursday,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, although it faced off primarily against repeats.

Media Life says that while it “continued its long slide,” the show “seems likely to remain No. 1 in its 8 p.m. timeslot when the other broadcast competition premieres next week,” and the numbers are “pretty good for a show in its 15 season.”
