ArchivesJanitor and former lunch lady Denise Martin, the fourth-place Survivor China contestant, wants the $50,000 she received during the reunion to go to charity. Specifically, she wants it to go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
On Tuesday, Denise was noncommittal about the $50,000 when intrepid journalist Julie Chen asked what she planned to do with it, but today, she knows what to say and how to say it, thanks to CBS’ public relations department. In a statement released by CBS and reported by the AP, Denise said,
“I do not feel comfortable about accepting the $50,000. I would instead ask that it be donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Please accept my apology. I would also like to thank all the people who have supported me through this experience.”
