Survivor will air a PSA for Philippines relief
CBS will air a Red Cross PSA featuring Jeff Probst after Survivor on Wednesday, asking viewers to donate to relief efforts in the Philippines after Friday’s devastating typhoon. The country has hosted this year’s and last year’s four seasons of the series.
The typhoon was likely the strongest storm ever recorded, and it killed many and destroyed parts of the Philippines this past weekend. At the end of October, a different typhoon hit the island where this year’s seasons were filmed; on Monday, another tropical storm hit the country. So much has been destroyed that relief efforts have been challenging and survivors are desperate for help.
EW’s Dalton Ross reports that “Probst is recording a Red Cross PSA for victims of Typhoon Haiyan that will air immediately after Wednesday’s episode of Survivor and direct people to the Red Cross to donate.” In addition, Probst and former cast members such as “Lisa Whelchel, John Cochran, Malcolm Freberg, Phillip Sheppard, and Jonathan Penner will be participating in a CBS television stations - Red Cross fundraiser for victims of Typhoon Haiyan that will be taking place on CBS-owned TV stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento on Wednesday.”
