Survivor, Ethan Zohn raise money for Stand Up to Cancer; CBS airing PSAs with cast members
Survivor Africa winner and cancer survivor Ethan Zohn has become the spokesperson for the CBS show’s new effort to raise money to fight cancer. That effort will include PSAs, such as the one below, that feature cast members besides Ethan including Rupert Boneham, Amber Brkich-Mariano, James Clement, Colby Donaldson, Cirie Fields, Russell Hantz, Jerri Manthey, Rob Mariano, Jenna Morasca, Parvati Shallow, James “JT” Thomas, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, and Tom Westman.
The show “has formed a unique, long-term alliance with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a grassroots movement raising much-needed funds for groundbreaking cancer research,” according to a press release. A “PSA campaign driving viewers to the Survivor SU2C donations page will launch tonight and run throughout the year,” the network said, noting that “One hundred percent of all contributions will go directly to research.”
In a press release quote, executive producer and creator Mark Burnett said, “My father is a cancer survivor and my mother died of cancer so this cause is very important to me. I’m proud of CBS and the Survivor family for making this happen with SU2C.”
