Archivesreport: Clarence, Lex, and Lindsey were hospitalized for amoebic dysentry during filming of Survivor Africa.
Three Survivor Africa cast members were removed from the game and hospitalized for amoebic dysentery during filming, according to a report published by Survivor-Central.com and attributed to a piece in Star Magazine by Paul Bannister. The report says amoebic dysentery can be deadly and quotes a doctor who says it likely came from “water infected with animal feces.” Lindsey’s best friend is quoted and says Lindsey went to a Nairobi hospital, then returned to the show, then went back to the hospital after being voted off. Clarence and Lex were each similarly treated, although since Lex remains on the show, it’s not clear exactly when he was hospitalized.
