Richard Hatch wants to be released to Argentina, be allowed to appear on Survivor

Imprisoned Survivor winner Richard Hatch recently asked to be released from prison, but now he wants to be allowed to serve his supervised release—which begins May 12—in Argentina. That’s where his husband Emiliano “Emi” Cabral, who he married before being convicted, is from.

Hatch “wants to serve his time on supervised release in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and to be free to travel the world to make guest appearances on the popular reality show, the Providence Journal reports.

That’s fascinating because a) his defense claims CBS bribed him because he discovered others cheating, and b) that suggests an all-star 20th season featuring the shows’ winners could happen.

While he “is due to be released to a halfway house May 12” and would start “his supervised release” six months later, the paper reports that “The federal government is opposing the motion, arguing that his sentence requires that he complete mental health counseling, file amended tax returns for 2000 and 2001, and pay $400,000 in back taxes.”
