Survivor executive producer Mark Burnett testified for the government, against Richard Hatch, in court yesterday.
After opening statements, Burnett was one of the witnesses to take the stand. No media outlet is reporting direct quotes, but according to E!, he “testified that Hatch, like all contestants, signed an agreement before the show stating that he would be responsible for all taxes on his winnings.”
Today, there was testimony from eight witnesses about alleged misuse of charitable funds. Richard “is also accused of accepting donations totaling $36,500 to Horizon Bound, a charity he purportedly established to provide outdoor adventures for teens,” the Providence Journal reports. “The donations came in exchange for appearances Hatch made in person and on TV programs.”
