Richard Hatch appeals his conviction because the judge wouldn’t allow evidence of cheating on the show

Richard Hatch is appealing his conviction for tax fraud, saying “the judge prevented him from raising allegations that there was cheating during filming of the debut season of the CBS reality TV show,” the AP reports.

Earlier, Hatch’s lawyer claimed that Rich caught fellow cast members cheating, and that as a result, producers agreed to pay the taxes on his winnings.

Specifically, the appeal says, “The excluded testimony eviscerated Hatch’s defense that he had reason to believe the taxes had been paid.” As the AP notes, Hatch and his lawyers want “to have all the convictions overturned.”

He was convicted last January and sentences to more than four years in jail.
