ArchivesRichard Hatch, who’s in jail until his sentencing later this month, “is being held in protective custody apart from other inmates until his sentencing this month on tax evasion charges,” according to the AP.
Richard “asked to be put in protective custody shortly after he was detained, his attorney, Michael Minns” told the AP. U.S. marshal Charles Wyant said that was because of his celebrity status, although anyone can ask to be kept away from other inmates. “The situation he’s in is the best possible position for him to be in at this point in time, the safest and most secure,” Wyant said.
Richard faces up to 13 years in prison when he’s sentences April 28.
