Academy says that in Emmy’s eyes, Survivor 1 and 2 are the same show.
Previously, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences decided to create a category for game show-type reality TV shows, in which Survivor was included. Now, they’re telling Mark Burnett and CBS that both Survivor 1 and Survivor 2 are the same show; the can’t be submitted as two different shows in the non-fiction programming (special class) category.
