John Feist, one of four producers who interviewed the castaways on camera regularly during the production of Survivor, says that most of the day-to-day living stuff had to be cut for time reasons. “It was a very difficult physical challenge for these people,” he says. And it was difficult for the crew, too: “All the crew lost weight,” and the first night, they had to sleep on the beach because there were no accommodations for them yet.
