SYTYCD not cancelled; eighth season will include all-stars, top 20, maybe Mary Murphy

So You Think You Can Dance will return next summer for an eighth season, despite idiotic rumors that it’s been cancelled, and its format will be a hybrid of last summer’s new format and the previous structure, according to its head judge and executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe.

Responding to a ridiculous rumor that the show has been cancelled (Nigel says that’s “a LIE”), he wrote on Twitter that the show will be “Back next year with both a Top 20 and the #AllStars.”

Nigel previously mentioned those format changes when he admitted last season’s problems and said he’d undo some of season seven’s changes.

One of its biggest changes was dropping Mary Murphy as a judge and choreographer, and replacing her with icy Mia Michaels and annoying Adam Shankman. But last month, Mary said during a panel discussion with the touring company of Burn The Floor that she was negotiating to return to the show full-time next summer.
