Mia Michaels replacing Mary Murphy as SYTYCD judge

Less than a year after basically quitting So You Think You Can Dance, Mia Michaels now has a permanent spot as a judge. That means Mia is replacing Mary Murphy, who Nigel Lythgoe previously said will work as a choreographer this season and will occasionally return as a guest judge.

But Mary isn’t even mentioned in Fox’s press release about the judges, which says “Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels and acclaimed director and choreographer Adam Shankman will return to So You Think You Can Dance as the series’ resident judges.”

Nigel’s press release quote also suggests this is yet another shake-up for the new season: “Mia’s outspoken approach combined with Adam’s passion will definitely add a fresh new chemistry to the panel.”

Of course, his crusty old self will still be on the panel.
