ArchivesFOX’s So You Think You Can Dance will feature Paula Abdul. She will not, however, be a judge; instead, according to a FOX press release, she’ll have “a special role.” Paula “will travel the country and teach average Americans a thing or two about dancing,” and those appearances will be featured in “video vignettes.”
The release also refers to her as “American Idol judge,” suggesting that she won’t be leaving the singing competition. A rumor floating around last week claimed Paula would be replaced with Whitney Houston if she left Idol to be a judge on the new FOX show.
Variety says there’s still a chance she won’t return, however. “While it’s still too soon to say if Abdul will return to ‘Idol’ — producers are still investigating the matter — her casting on ‘Dance’ indicates producers still view her as an asset,” the paper reports.
So You Think You Can Dance debuts tomorrow night.
